That’s from VX-4, a Navy test and evaluation squadron. Test pilots. They were The Playboys (they weren’t the only ones to use that nickname in the military, it predated the magazine) and they used that tail logo (with Hef’s consent) for probably, what, thirty years? They don’t use it any more.

As a symbol, it falls on the spectrum somewhere between the American Flag and the Confederate flag. More towards the latter, imho. Not all the way over there, of course.
