The Assault Weapons Ban also banned the manufacturer or importation of high-capacity magazines (over 10 rounds) for non-governmental use.
The US Army won WWII with clips (yes, correctly used :) that held 8 rounds. The danger is not the size, it is the speed of reloading. If you can slam in 10 rounds in an instant after you have fired 10 rounds you are far more dangerous than someone dealing with California’s “Bullet Button” magazines.
