So many conservatives rail against single-parent homes.

More than once during my life I’ve asked someone who interjected that “why do you hate war widows like my mother?”

After my father was killed, pressure was on from people in my village in Michigan for her to re-marry (it was scandalous for her to remain a single mother). She was bashed for going to college on her VA benefits instead of finding a nice man. People within our family also weighed in she was causing a family scandal.
