I’ve been able to install VOIP services and upgrade my firmware when the phone company releases updates, as opposed to when my phone company want me to have it.

yep. i fail to see anything wrong with it…i signed a 2-year contract with AT&T when i bought my IPhone. Once the contract is over, i’ll do whatever the f@#$ i want with it, thankyouverymuch.
