It’s worse than that.

Just like with Poitras publishing leaks related to Turkey and the Kurds as the US was gathering allies in the region, or Greenwald publishing leaks related to China during the US/China cyber summit, and countless other similar examples, team Greenwald selects and times publishing leaks from the Snowden archive to influence events (to interfere with the US and their closet allies’ foreign policy goals, and to cause maximal political friction within those alliances).

This time Greenwald timed releases from his stolen document cache to buttress his appearance at a political rally, dragged Snowden along to reinforce his message and to explicitly call on the audience to vote, all to try his hand at influencing the top elections of a key ally. The event and Greenwald’s travel was paid for by Dotcom, all in support of Dotcom’s pet political party. Dotcom the premium number defrauder, the pirated software seller, the insider trader, the embezzler, convicted of 11 counts of computer fraud and 10 counts of data espionage, whose recent fortune was made by knowingly mass-hosting pirated software, music and porn while charging his users for premium access.
