I reject your thesis that Mozart didn’t write masterpieces. However, I’ve occasionally wondered what Mozart might have produced if he’d had the chance to hear middle-period Beethoven (which he would have done if he’d reached his 50’s).

my favorite composer fantasy involves bringing my favorite composer js bach back to life in the modern era (maybe swoop in and save him from his last cataract operation that killed him)

i imagine him listening to recordings of all important music since his death and then being asked who was the most important composer/musician of the last hundred years. according to me, he would have to say

“vy, tcharlie parrrkerr, of course!”
