A nice rant, FB, but it’s nothing new, even deToqueville noted that Americans (in the early 19th century) believed education was the fix for all things.

Let me take your rant from the other side. Employers are not even willing to pay for more or better education - the degree requirements are “dissatisfiers” that you must not fail, rather than something that marks you as having any virtue. Those engineers you don’t see graduating - are facing falling wages, and made a rational decision to go elsewhere.

Whatever the problems with education, it’s not the schools that are at fault, or at least not alone. Though I certainly agree, American k-12 education should offer more fast-paced tracks for the better students.
