I’ve always thought that it would make a great sci fi series that the universe has its eyes on a very dangerous, unstable, war-like species that must be kept to its planet at all costs.

Us.

When we try to deny it, they show us video of people being hacked to death with machetes in Africa, or gassed in WWII, or…pretty much the whole campaign against kulaks in Soviet Russia, and ask us to explain.

We can’t. Not really.

One of the most overplayed tropes, really. Either humanity has made it to the stars and we’re seen as an “upstart race” that’s not far removed from its savage past. Or we’re put “on trial” for such savagery and have to prove we can overcome it or be destroyed.
