Getting rid of private prisons is definitely a start. But there’s still places in the country where the local law enforcement has more of an OCP feel than a police force that is there to protect and serve the public.

It’s still policing through racial profiling and using fines/arrests to fund local government operations, which means that poor communities stay poor and can’t get out of the orbit of funding the very institutions that keep these people poor, underserved, and in jails.
