You want to cancel the F-22 when the F-15’s are worn out? When all of the single seat F-15’s were recently grounded, we had to beg the Canadians to provide air coverage of Alaska with their F-18’s.

Do you think F-16’s and F-18’s are going to maintain the advantage for another twenty years? Have you seen the latest fighters from Russia and China?

You do know that the P-8 ASW aircraft is also on the chopping block (the S-3’s have already been retired)? And the Virginia class SSN’s (under budget and on time), and the newest carriers, and the DDG-1000, and the LCS?

You think we don’t need a Navy all of a sudden?

The M-1 Abrams was designed in the 1970’s, while it doesn’t need replacing yet, it does need a constant program of upgrades to deal with 21st century anti-tank weapons. That program is also on the chopping block.
