Depends on the time, place, and people. Post-war Pittsburgh Democrats were raised to be pro-(The Exodus Version of) Israel.

I don’t remember learning anything outside of WWII context about the Jews and Israel. I wasn’t into foreign policy when I was young. I didn’t read the newspaper past the TV and Movie Listings. I had far more fun things on my mind… .
