re: #69 Obdicut

In more important news, I no longer have love-handles. Dropped twenty pounds in the last six months, and gotten hella strong at the same time. The 92nd street Y rocks. It’s my favorite thing about NYC. Great cultural programming, a fun, active, inclusive yet still definitely Jewish place, and an amazing, low-pressure gym with great trainers. I advise everyone to move to the Upper East Side of Manhattan and take advantage of it. I’m in the best shape I’ve been since I got sidelined by a hernia fourteen years ago. They’re a non-profit, too.

Awesome things can be achieved by like-minded people working together to help their community. I’m very grateful to all the people there who put in the work to keep it going. I think it’s time for a donation.

Why on earth would I move to the UES? Here on the UWS we’ve got the JCC, which is just as good… and we have Riverside Park, which you don’t. (also, our restaurants are more affordable than yours, our Zabar’s is the original, our boutiques are trendier, our factory outlets have better bargains, and the Museum of Natural History has Neil DeGrasse Tyson and dinosaurs.)

(I actually don’t know if the weight room and other gyms at the JCC are as good as yours, I only go for the pool, but the locker room is awesome and the pool room has 20 foot tall windows all the way across two of the walls. Someday I want to rent it for a midnight private party.)
