The Washington Post reporting on Russian meddling in the election.
They note sources claiming Putin made specific instructions to help Trump to defeat Clinton.
That allegedly happened during the time hackers were rummaging through the DNC and RNC computer servers.

Inside was an intelligence bombshell, a report drawn from sourcing deep inside the Russian government that detailed Russian President VladiĀmir Putinās direct involvement in a cyber campaign to disrupt and discredit the U.S. presidential race.
But it went further. The intelligence captured Putinās specific instructions on the operationās audacious objectives ā defeat or at least damage the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, and help elect her opponent, Donald Trump.
