re: #27 Punish Domestic Terrorists

Sorry to hear about the joys of filing with the IRS.

There was a WashPost article on a glitch where if the 2020 return was filed as paper and is one of the millions not yet processed, the electronic 2021 return will be rejected on the basis of 2020 AGI.

As of March 25, the IRS said it had 7.2 million unprocessed individual returns.

When you file electronically, one of the verification questions asks for your adjusted gross income, or AGI, from your most recent tax return.

If your return is in that backlog unprocessed, the IRS system doesnā€™t recognize your legit AGI. This can cause your e-file to be rejected.

*snip*

Hereā€™s the fix: Enter $0 (zero dollars) for your prior-year AGI, the IRS says.

What to do if your tax return from 2020 is still being processed. People whose tax returns from 2020 have not yet been processed can still file their 2021 tax returns. For anyone in this group filing electronically, hereā€™s a critical point: taxpayers need their Adjusted Gross Income, or AGI, from their most recent tax return when they file electronically. For those waiting on their 2020 tax return to be processed, make sure you enter $0 (zero dollars) for last yearā€™s AGI on the 2021 tax return.
