About 25 kilometers away from Prague is a city called Kladno. There’s a former synagogue there which is now a Hussite Church; the story is that the Hussites saved the Torah scroll from the Nazis during the Protectorate and in the early 2000s - if I remember correctly - returned it to a congregation in New Jersey.

There is a story—could be apocryphal—about an old Polish woman who saved (looted) a Torah scroll, kept it hidden during the war, and then wanted to charge money to tourists to view it. When the Jewish community insisted that it should be returned she cried Teh Juice were trying to take away her only means of livelihood!
