Getting into a discussion about if there is or is not a “Republican War on Women” is a colossal loser for me. No matter what I say, I’ll get yelled at and downdinged. The smart move is to not engage that topic.

There are ways to say clearly “I don’t support attacks on women’s rights,” although I admit they might lead into the discussion of at what point does the cognitive dissonance get to you (because I do give you the credit of the doubt to believe that you don’t support that view of women).

This issue doesn’t go away just because you don’t want to deal with it/it doesn’t affect you personally; it represents a real challenge that the Republican party needs to deal with. See: rebranding.
