What is the point of airstrikes if there’s no army to exploit them? Are we prepared to start bombing Iraqi cities to root out militants within their borders?

We’re talking about a very small force, they could easily be weakened with airstikes, especially if we can catch them in the open. Getting them out of the cities is going to be tougher and will require Iraqi ground troops unless we can force them to withdraw. But this is all a temporary fix. The Syrian civil war could continue for a decade or more. ISIS will be back.
