Yup - the hull design dropped out of favor after the Russian-Japanese war of 1905 due to being unstable in heavy sea states. They’ve incorporated new tech to address that (though it’ll be put to the test in real world conditions).

They’ve also incorporated the angular structures for stealth purposes, including enclosing the guns to minimize radar cross sections.

Oh, and since the costs spiraled out of control, the US only gets 3 of them - at nearly $4 billion a pop (figuring development costs spread across class) - the class was originally supposed to include 32 ships, then 10, and now 3.
