The most offensive display I’ve had the misfortune to be subjected to was when I was being prepped for major surgery. After the surgeon and anesthesiologist left and I was alone with the nurse she started in earnest with how I needed to accept Jesus and give myself over blah blah and she kept grabbing my hand to pray over me and shit. I was already a bit drugged and very, very ill but still managed to squeak out that I preferred to place my faith in the surgical team. She did not take the hint. I was too ill to tell her to fuck off but man, I wanted to.

I would have been fucking pissed off at that during my time as a born-again Christian.
