The problem is: Where would they go after using them? It would be like calling artillery down on your own position. Yes, you’d gut News Corp, but since you initially participated in the illegal actions (or and least knew and did nothing till later) who will hire you in the business after that? The Feds would give you immunity, to be sure, but the public (potential employers) would look at you in the same light as they would Sammy the Bull, a rat who turned on his boss to avoid prison time.
