It’s amazing how many of these “secular Turks” who venerate their own military as a vanguard for Turkish secuarlism conveniently forget one blight in their country’s history.

Why is it so hard for many to be convinced that the support for Islamist movements dates back much further than the creation of AKP?

Because history is nuanced and filled with shades of gray and lessers of 2 evils, so it is confusing and hard to deal with?
