It’s doable with a soldier. I’d pick adrenaline rush and combat mastery, and an ammo power (warp IMO, but you have to have played through once already IIRC) if you have spare points. Then just carefully pick teammates that back up your main character’s weaknesses on any particular mission.

Vanguard with a sniper rifle all the way for me or an adept with an assault rifle.
