It’s much, much, much harder to hack into those systems, than it is to hack a website. A website is customer-facing, it has to interact with the outside world a lot. There’s lots of ways to attack it.

People keep saying dumb shit like “They hacked the stock exchange!” No, they didn’t. They hacked the website for the stock exchange. The actual network of the stock exchange was never touched.

It’s the difference between spray-painting the outside of a building and breaking into it and taking out all the contents.
