I started raising the alarm about Russian propaganda and political subversion 5 years ago. I felt like a prophet crying in the wilderness. I wish I had been wrong: It is very gratifying to be vindicated but it is horrifying to see just how pervasive and influential it has become.

You know what leaves me absolutely gobsmacked? Thirty years if people had been supporting the leader of Russia the way Trump and his followers support Putin, they would have been called Commies and Reds. And no self-respecting Republican would have been caught dead on the side of the Commies. To see the next generation of Republican wannabe leaders cozy up to Putin and the Kremlin is very disorienting.
