Keppra is a Dilantin analogue.
The only thing they share is a Pyrrolidone core-what’s hanging off of the two are incredibly different. But I can understand your doc’s unwillingness to change unless your Dupuytrens Contractures gets real bad (plus phenobarbital being dirt cheap to boot.)
That also explains the grief of what you have to go thru, since there’s no domestic manufacturer of Phenobarbital anymore, you’re stuck having to bend over backwards to sign a piece of paper to satisfy Lundbeck. That sucks.
