re: #349 Wendell Zurkowitz ((slave to the waffle light))

My mom was a good cook but she was too busy working to keep a roof over our heads. I grew up on Campbell’s soup and Chef Boyardee spaghetti.

When she had time to cook properly, it was terrific, but that was usually only on Sundays.

I was one of nine children (no more than 7 at one time though, since I was grown and out of the house when the last 2 were born). I developed a real taste for Chef Boyardee products. My mother, who was a genius with low cost food, preferred the ravioli over spaghetti. I still like it, especially since I can cook it in the oven with extra cheese and sausage. We (the mob of kids) did not like beefaroni at all and spaghetti-os were well down on the preference list. I think I was an adult before I realized that Chef Boyardee products came in the little 15 oz. cans as well as the big 28 oz. ones we always had.
