Signing a “book deal for $XXX ” does not always mean you get $XXX. The publisher will front you some money, but until they start seeing drafts, USABLE ones, most of the money is withheld until publication

It’s due for publication in the spring. That strongly suggests it’s already written, or mostly so.

And it’s still $10 million in the bank, 20 time more than her alleged legal liabilities. If she owes that money, she owes it to her own lawyers, who will be intimately familiar with her other financial circumstances and who will happily wait a few months, if necessary, to collect their fees.

Still not buying this argument. She seems perfectly capable of paying her bills, with plenty left over.
