I honestly don’t know. She might also have just been dropping out of school, and coming up with a cover story. It was a very screwed up school situation, so I take everything they told me with a grain of salt. I had no common language with her family.

I was just hacked that no one told me. I looked at her one day and though ‘Damn, she’s pregnant’. Before I could ask around, or check in with her, one of the moms at the school grabbed me after class to ask if the pregnant girl her son was friends with needed any baby stuff, because she had everything from her youngest in the garage.

At the staff meeting, I pointed out, politely, that if I had known the child was expecting, I might have been, for one thing, a little more liberal with the bathroom passes. I asked if the office had her doctor’s number. They looked confused.
