He was a deeply screwed up dude, and I wouldn’t let my (hypothetical kids) anywhere near him, but that’s not because he was a child molestor, but that he might have been a child molestor.

A friend of mine who actually got to interview him repeatedly, including before the accident, said that he thought that was actually the trigger for his bizarre behavior. Before getting so badly burned, he was quirky and odd, but not nearly as strange. After it, he was addicted to painkillers and still in residual pain. My friend felt all his bizarre escapist crap was wanting to get away from that pain and the burn, get back to before it happened.

Makes kind of sense to me.
