Well that’s a case of the American Right’s fundamental problem of association: Their message of “personal responsibility” gets mired and corrupted by their inextricable link with hardcore religious fundamentalism. Using birth control to ensure that you don’t have unplanned children that you can’t care for and thus become a burden on the taxpayers is the responsible thing to do and falls right in line with all that happy “personal responsibility, don’t be a moocher” horseshit, but it conflicts with the fundies and their slut-shaming. And for the American Right, the religious POV always beats out the pragmatic POV.

These are some of the reasons why I will never vote R.
