They can’t all be correct.

Frankly, I’d wager Steyn agrees with you on that. But he wrote what he wrote to make the point that there is nothing having to do with the theft that could possible make Wilson shooting Brown dead OK. What Steyn is saying is that Wilson screwed up, and no amount details about Michael Brown can camouflage that fact.
