His answer was fine, and factual, but a better answer would have been ‘this procedure is every bit as safe as you would be if you were to carry the baby to term’. Safety of the mother, absent health risks, plays no part either way as the mortality statistics are infinitesimally low in either case.

That would be false. Even the healthiest young woman at the beginning of a pregnancy can develop serious health issues as a result of that pregnancy. Risks are significantly higher than “infinitesimally low”.
