The CFs are a stopgap. I’m seeing LED arrays at Sam’s that go to 850 lumens. They’ll keep improving them and there are other possible fixes out there. (The LEDs are still very expensive, about 25.00 for the 850 ‘bulb’.) Here in the South, it’s not just the inefficiency of the light source, but the waste heat that must be counted on the AC load.
