That part pisses me off to no end since the transportation trust fund is already insufficient to get the job done of maintaining infrastructure. But he wants his tax cuts. So he’ll go ahead and borrow against the fund to keep the cuts he wants.

Democrats in the legislature are split on the tax cuts/property tax relief with most favoring some form. Assembly Democrats are pushing ahead with a tax hike on millionaires (whether it is actually on income over $1 million or something far less is still up in the air) to fund a property tax relief plan, while Senate Democrats are seemingly going along with Christie.

Christie can get what he wants since he has line item veto and gets to certify the budget figures. So, he will probably pick and choose the parts he wants, the voters get some form of relief now, but the state’s finances remain structurally screwed.
