re: #367 Dr Lizardo

A rather grim little movie, isn’t it? Of course, taste in films is highly subjective - I found Once Upon A Time In Anantolia to be nothing short of a modern-day masterpiece, whereas people I know found it to be a snoozefest. I liked Snowtown, largely owing to some tour de force acting by Daniel Henshall as the Australian serial killer John Bunting.

A disturbing film, to be sure, but given the subject matter, somewhat inevitable that it would be.

Oh, don’t get me wrong. It was an excellent, well done movie, although I would advise people to read something about those murders before watching the movie. I was actually saying out loud, “Why are you listening to this man? Where is your moral core?” I hated him, and just can’t imagine someone having such little control over themselves that someone could talk him or her into actually murdering or helping to murder someone, taking that kind of revenge. Even the murders were almost incestuous—most knew each other or had varying relationships with the others of one kind of another.

It certainly gave me a different perspective on Australian life as well and should remind us that sociopaths can infest every culture.
