The whole ‘suicide-is-a-selfish/cowardly-act position’ is a great way to separate compassionate individuals from those without the capacity to empathise with depressed people or who operate moment-to-moment on snippets of received wisdom from their childhood which, as an adult, experience has failed to unseat. Another fucking bootstrap pontificator.

I think some suicides are cowardly. Someone who has committed a horrible crime and kills themselves rather than face justice. Some suicides are horribly selfish: fathers who kill themselves and leave notes blaming their wife and family. Etc.

This wasn’t anything like that. Nor are most suicides.
