Young family lives next door to me
One son (4 years old) and 2 y/o twin daughters. All call the father Papa

ALSO,,, my grand-nieces in Ireland call my brother in law (their grandfather) Papa

It just seems so early 20th century, though, like “Father”. I don’t think it’s used at all in the south—“Dad” or “Daddy” is the preferred term here.

I could see “Papi” or “Papa” used among Hispanics, though, in the US. I’ve heard “Papi” used among Hispanic immigrants here in the south.
