re: #368 Slumbering Behemoth
Hahaha! You don’t have to leave the mainland to be in the minority. For much of my life I was one of the few “guerros/honkeys/whatevers” where I lived.
I grew up in the SF Bay Area. I was always one of a few white kids in class.
Then I taught in the SF Bay Area. I’d have a couple white kids, here and there.
In teaching courses, people would ask things like “Do you have different expectations for your white students?”
And I would say, “Well, Michael is kind of an underachiever.”
“Michael?”
“Yeah, he’s my white student this year.”
