I bought 10 year Mexican bonds right after the 1983 debt restructuring, one isue paid 13.88% and the next paid 17.56%. I was very happy, even more so that I didn’t have to bring the money back here and pay capital gains on it. That money is still in South America earning more…err…somewhere or the other (shhhus Uncle Sam doesn’t read this right?).
