Didn’t whatshisname take camels over the alps into Italy from Spain? Along with elephants?

Can’t do that with a camel, as they don’t have hoofs. They have soft feet that cannot be shod as a horse would be.

Thanks for clearing that up! So the camel is really suited for the desert. Seems like they could have booties like the sled dogs.
