Nope. Operation Chastise - the attacks of RAF 617 Sqn “The Dam Busters” against the Ruhr river dams on the night of May 16-17, 1943 provided the specific inspiration. Right down to one of the bombs missing by bouncing past the edge of the dam rather than going down to the base of the dam before exploding.
