re: #347 pingjockey
We just had a big feral cat roundup here. The state is getting ready to reroute a road and there was a huge feral cat population by the local Fred Meyer. The cat lovers were feeding these cats and they just kept increasing. I know they had to do a number on the quail population.
We had the same problem.
The Humane Society has a program they call TNR - Trap Neuter Release. It’s a bit costly. I’m trying to remember, like $25 to rent one cage, but they have a mobile service that comes around and neuters the cats. Doesn’t help the bird problem, but the reproduction problem.
I was part of a neighborhood committee to secure a $2500 grant for our neighborhood. We didn’t get it, but the neighbors pitched in and we did get some of the cats done. The bird problem is still a problem. And people still continue to dump their cats here (arrrgghhhh).
