I think the IOC was hoping for change - $$$. Rio’s bid had a Big Spender backing it, a very wealthy Brazilian. Maybe that’s the deal, as Rio put up more mulla than the other bidders.

Rio can afford the games, Chicago can’t…even half the people polled by the Trib (I think) didn’t want the games…it’s not a popular notion…BO had nothing to do with it
