A single C-17 can carry 134 troops (w/pallets).

The C-130 could carry 92 troops (w/pallets).

Even if you’re running round trips, it’s going to take a whole lot of time and fuel to get to 3,000-5,000 in a brigade. It usually takes a squadron of planes to move a brigade.

Having flown in the side seats in a C-130 from Texas to Honduras, I can tell you that is borderline cruel and unusual punishment.
