We use the names a lot here. Even the traffic reports use the names instead of the numbers (with the exceptions of I-80 and I-57 which lack names).

I got passed by a lady on I-80 on the way to the City who had a newspaper on the Steering wheel..A cup of coffee in one hand while she was looking in the mirror putting on eyeliner…
Wonder if she is still alive
