If republicans think this is even remotely a possibility, they are dumber than I originally thought (which is really, really, really, REALLY stupid).

I suspect there will be some horse-trading done to secure his resignation if they believe the charges serious enough that conviction is conceivable. Possibly getting the DNC to agree to avoid bringing charges against Don Jr and/or Jared. I don’t believe Mitch really wants to spend the better part of two years dodging accusations that he allowed the most unpopular president since Nixon to avoid conviction on felony charges.
