The closest thing I can think of to the reaction to Mohammed cartoons in the Catholic Church was the reaction to Scorcese’s Last Temptation of Christ, in which a theater was firebombed there were furious protests, and I believe someone crashed their car into a theater.

True- but it bears recalling there were no calls from religious authorities inciting and demanding violent behavior and in fact, you are correctly citing a single incident.

There were tens, if not more of coordinated violent incidents after the Danish cartoons were published.
