In some ways I think they look Polynesian in dress and song styling.

The aboriginal languages of Taiwan are all Austronesian (Or Malayo-Polynesian, as they called them when I was alive). They’re the closest to the protolanguage, so Taiwan and the South China coast were probably the Malayo-Polynesian homeland.
