I just called my son’s house in NC and his girlfriend’s mom answered the phone to let me know they’re out grocery shopping. She has a heavy accent which, immediately upon hearing it, caused me to involuntarily start speaking with a Texas drawl so thick you could cut it with a knife.

Gawd, that’s annoying! Yet I can’t seem to stop it even when I’m aware of it… It’s like the Southern drawl version of Dueling Banjos. *headdesk*
