You had more confidence in the electorate than I did. Before 2008, who would’ve thought American voters would elect a black man with a name like Barack Hussein Obama President?

Actually, seriously it was his speech at the Dem convention in 2004. I had just gotten home from work, plopped down on the sofa and turned on the TV. There was this guy I’d never heard of already a few seconds onto his speech. He sat me straight up saying “who IS this guy?!” By the end of his speech, I told my then boyfriend that this was our future president.
